Sea Turtles

It is an amazing world we live in, truely amazing.  One evening we can see the most tiny of turtles, making their way to the ocean from their safe nest.  The way they skitter accross the sand and are thwarted by small rocks, sticks and even the footprints in the sand.  These turtles are only inches in size, and so cute you want to snatch one up and take it home for your aquarium.  But you don't, and later you are really glad you did not.  because your floating out on the bay, with a snorkel in your mouth watching the sea floor when you see it, a turtle, but not the baby size turtle you saw the night before, rather this is a huge turtle, it must be a hundred pounds, 3 feet in diameter at least.  It is feeding on the sea grass, enjoying a nice lunch as you float above it admiring its splendor.  The sea turtles are amazing the way they use their flippers to move from the sea bottom to the air that they need to breath for survival.  There is something to be said for watching the turtle surface, and moving you head above water to see the turtle grasp a breath of air, often repeating this a second time before dropping back down to forage on the sea floor.  This is an amazing animal, one that you could watch for hours hovering above it, being sure to be out of its path for air.  I have been told I do a good imitation of the way a turtle grasps it breath as it surfaces, but I am sure of this, I could never put into words the feelings you experience when you witness such and event.  I hope someday to return to this place, pehaps with my children so they can experience the sea, the sun and the joys of watching nature at its best along the sea floor.

Treehouse or bar?

It was a new experience for me, walking into a bar and looking for a swing to sit on, we sat down on two swings and ordered a Modelo Negro.  The music was some sort of weird remix from the 70's disco era, yet it was amusingly attractive in the situation.  We sat there watching the couple across the bar, the woman was obviously into the man, he did not seem to be quite so into her.  We started making up scenerios in our mind,
She is married, he is not.
They are married but he is not wearing his ring.
...
We switched to a Modelo light, this was sadly less satisfying, lucky for us there was a third type Modelo Especial, this would become the dominant beer on our trip from here on out.

The nice thing about swings is you can rock toward your girl and give her a nice kiss, something we were doing, but the couple accross the way was not, oh wait where did they go?  Now there were four of them and they were sitting at a table, they had paired up with another couple, he with another woman and she with a man.  We were left confused and soon turned our attention to our own discussions, and affections.

Things got interesting at the bar, but even more interesting back at the Condo.

Arrival in Mexico

It had been a long day of traveling, J.C. was exhausted, he looked at her and said, "Wow, getting here is a lot of work".  they laughed at his comment, both knowing how true this felt,, and yet the fact was they simply sat on planes, it just seemed like work.

She had said that she needed to see the beach once they arrived, they dragged their bags from the car and made there way slowly towards the office.  The heat was more than they were used to, but it was not oppressive.  They found a note posted on the door with her name on it, and started to make their way to their accommodations.   A slight misinterpretation of the map led them to the door of the wrong apartment, the lights were not on as they should have been but they tried the door anyway, it was locked.  Another glance at the map, a few more twists and turns and they were  on the porch of their apartment.   A quick drop off of bags and they headed towards the beach.

The air turned a bit cooler as they approached, at one point the beach was visible through a hallway, giving it the appearance of a moving picture, and as they walked the picture grew larger, until they were standing on the beach of a moon lit ocean.  There is a certain sound that the waves of the ocean make when they wash up on the shore, the soothing swhish, combined with a roar that lulls the mind into a deep peace.  The scent of fresh salt air accented the sounds, and the sight that met their eyes was the biggest treat of all.  As they sat there, he held her in his arms gently swaying as if the waves were rocking them.  Above them the moon shone through a lone palm tree, this and the reflection of the moon on the water flickering from the motion of the waves, was the only light.  They sat transfixed by the sight and sound of the waves, the scent and taste of the salty sea air accented the touch of his hands on her body, and her hands caressing his.  It was at this moment that the hours of travel, melted into the unmistakable feeling of being on vacation, of embarking on a fantasy they had held for a long time and was now their reality.
